Scott Arthur Yerkey is a Chicago based residential and furniture designer. His work is characterized by attention to detail, fine fabrics and his ability to “visualize beyond the horizon.” Scott’s ability to work with a wide range of styles enables him to create interiors that reflect the personalities and lifestyles of his diverse clients. “My approach combines historical with modernistic influences to create a timeless design.” Scott prefers to become involved in projects at conception, guiding his clients around every turn. “I have my greatest impact and satisfaction when I can influence the interior structure at its core, integrating the architecture with the interiors. Art comes alive each day stroke-by-stroke. Any perceived obstacle creates an opportunity to design hand-in-hand with the client’s direct input.”
“Each design project involves uniquely individual people as well as unique circumstances. I take very seriously the influence I have over my client’s homes, and by extension – their lives. A designer must ‘earn’ a special place in each client’s home and heart. Once established, it is a connection that enables us to communicate and to create a beautiful space that works with their lifestyle and established parameters. There is no satisfaction comparable to that of seeing a client enter a room with a smile from ear-to-ear.”
Scott received his Bachelor of Science degrees in Psychology and Biology at Loyola University of Chicago. He earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design at the Illinois Institute of Art.
In 1999, Scott established Scott Arthur Yerkey Design, Inc., a specialized interior design firm. As an interior designer for more than 15 years, Scott often finds himself “creating” furniture to meet the unique needs and personalities of his clients. In 2002, Scott took some of his creations public, establishing Scott Arthur Yerkey, Furniture, Inc. “When you look at furniture, it should have sense of character and a sense of inspiration.” Scott Arthur Yerkey Furniture is often described as “clean-lined”, “sophisticated”, and “elegant”.
